Once Upon a Time….
There were two lovely princesses working together in the same majestic palace. One of the princesses told the other about a wonderful event to be held in a place far away called Disneyland, on January 20, 2013. This fabulous charity event, called the Tinkerbell Half Marathon, would take the participants through three lands of enchantment. One of these lands was called Anaheim, another called California Adventure and the third one was Disneyland.
These two princesses and another princess all decided to make the long journey together. They climbed into the horse powered buggy and began their wonderful adventure. None of them had been to the Tinkerbell Half Marathon before. They heard it was only the second one there ever was. Could it be true, that there had been only one Tinkerbell Half Marathon before?
The princesses stayed at the California Adventure Castle for three whole days and nights. It was so big, they almost got lost several times.
Then it was time for the fabulous event to begin. Everyone was up before dawn and went down to the courtyard where the festivities were to start. There were lots of fairies all around with wings of green and blue and lavender and yellow.
The princesses walked and ran and walked through all of the enchanted lands. They saw pirates, chipmunks, princesses and lots of other characters.
After having such an adventure, the princesses were so tired they decided to go to the castle and rest.
Okay, enough of the story telling. The Tinkerbell Half Marathon was fun. There is a minimum pace of 16 minutes per mile and the total time allotted was 3 hours and 30 minutes. If participants do not keep up that pace, they may get picked up by the transport van. My goal was to finish the race without getting picked up by the van! Goal accomplished.
My net time for the race was 3 hours, 45 minutes, 56 seconds.
Since it was fun, I decided to participate in the January 19, 2014 race. There is also something called a Coast to Coast Challenge. That involves participation in a marathon or half marathon at both Disneyland and Disney World in the same year.
My goals for 2014: Participate in the Tinkerbell Half Marathon at Disneyland; participate in a half marathon at Disney World (probably the Wine and Dine); finish the race under the allotted time allowed.
I tried to train on my own for the 2013 race and that did not work out so well. This year, I have joined Youfit, a local gym. This will be my journey for the races in 2014.
Hope you will enjoy the journey with me.
