Salt lake Comic Con 2014 ends with 'L.A. Slasher' Encore
Salt Lake Comic Con 2014 ended with a special encore showing of L.A. Slasher at midnight at the Gateway Megaplex. Director Martin Owen, Producers Jeffrey Wright and Daniel Sollinger, and Stars Abigail Wright and Elizabeth Morris were in attendance for this screening.
The movie is about a person who is tired of reality TV stars and decides to abduct and torture them for the amusement of the Internet audience. Billed as a horror/comedy, this satire features gore, language, nudity and adult content. The best parts in the film belong to Danny Trejo and Dave Bautista, whose chemistry is undeniable. Between the two of them, they have the best lines and the best twist. Trejo also gets the best “blink and you miss it” joke. The film as a whole is smarter than it might be portrayed as. “We think the movie is a lot of fun,” says Owen. “It’s a participation movie.” Owen encouraged the audience to be a little louder and laugh when it was funny. Afterwards, the cast and crew took questions from the audience. The Slasher was portrayed by several people with Andy Dick providing an imitation Jack Nicholson vocal quality. The movie soundtrack is filled with awesome tunes from the 1980s. It was nice to have one last hurrah before Salt Lake Comic Con was really over. |
