Gigi Edgley talks 'Farscape,' Creatures and Homelife
Gigi Edgley came in straight from Dragon Con and had to wait a couple of days for Salt Lake Comic Con to start.
“This convention is phenomenal,” says Edgley. Edgley grew up on a hippy commune with Hopi dances, alien visitors and relaxed ideas about clothing. “I had a captive audience for three and a half hours a day,” says Edgley, referring to how much time it took to do the makeup for Chiana on Farscape, until they hooked up a television. In the episode “Out of Their Minds,” Farscape characters switch bodies. To portray Dargo, Edgley just had to remember that he didn’t use contractions. “You just got to find little moments,” says Edgley, in order to effectively portray a different character. On her list of favorite creatures are Cookie Monster, anything from the Dark Crystal and Mildred from the creature shop challenge. Edgley recently married a world class unicyclist and has taken up the unicycle herself. (She can also do fire twirling.) “It’s like this subculture that I never knew existed,” says Edgley. Edgley believes the circumstances of their meeting were fortuitous. “I saw him, and he had a broken foot. The guy can’t run away, can he? SCORE!” says Edgley. She offered to get him a chair and then asked if she could sit with him if she brought another chair. "It can all change in a heartbeat," says Edgley. "It's the little things." Edgley is currently working with Bruce Boxleitner’s Lantern City and has worked on the YouTube video “Nobody Knows.” Check out my interview with Edgley. |
