Malta Comics Expo offers unique opportunity to European 'A-team' and 'Battlestar Galactica' fans
The Malta Comics Expo is at the Mediterranean Conference Center (MCC), also called the Knight’s Hospitaller, for the next two days, Nov. 1 - 2, and is an event that guests say every science fiction fan in Malta should attend.
The conference includes panel discussions from the cast of Sailor Moon, Dirk Benedict, Robert Picardo, Sylvester McCoy and Joseph Gatt, whose family is from Malta. Benedict, who played Starbuck on the original Battlestar Galactica and Face from The A-Team, says that this will be his last trip outside of the United States, so those who want to see this iconic actor will have to get to Malta quickly.
“This is the most impressive venue that I have ever stepped into,” says Picardo, the Doctor from Star Trek Voyager, about the MCC. He encouraged fans at his panel on Friday to bring two or free of their friends, especially if Malta wants something like the Comics Expo in the future.
Demonstrations, including a Jedi workshop and a comparison of real weapon use versus movie weapon use, are also scheduled. For those who are interested in cars, the expo is hosting replicas of the General Lee, K.I.T.T., the car from Starsky and Hutch and two vehicles from The A-Team including the van.
The Artist’s Alleys features artists from Ireland, the Netherlands and Malta. Fans can purchase prints and sketches, as well as original work.
