'Beauty and the beast' is the same story you remember, mostly
I saw this movie in Russian; something may have been lost in translation.
The live action Beauty and the Beast is everything that you would expect, and that’s its problem. If you are a fan of the original animated version or the lengthened Broadway version, there just aren’t enough differences in the live action version to make it better than the original. If the original is good enough and you want to see Emma Watson as Belle, then by all means see this film. If you want a different story or something reimagined, see Logan.
Spoiler Alert – if you want to read more, scroll past the trailer.

Controversy? Seriously? If you are offended by the “gay” LeFou storyline, you probably didn’t like seeing Bugs Bunny in drag either. If this is all it takes to get people riled up, we all need to get lives outside the Internet. The moments in this film aren’t any worse than any other bromance. It’s idiotic that it even has to be mentioned.
The Beast and Gaston have some similarities, which may have been brought to the fore by the Honest Trailers comparison of the 2 characters in the original movie. The smile scenes really stood out, though.
“Kill the Beast” steals the show in every language. It is the perfect song to describe human hatred of and emotions towards the unknown and the different. It is even better in this film because the Belle and her father are both different and they end up locked in a cage while the mob heads to kill the beast.
Both the dinner and ballroom scenes are spectacular, but they can’t hold a candle to the animated film. The rest of the film is also beautifully done. Unfortunately, I wanted a twist, something worthy of the controversial label, or something ground-breaking to make this film worth redoing the beloved classic from my childhood. What I got was a decent film that basically recaps the original and will perpetuate Disney and Hollywood’s aversion to telling original stories because they don’t make money.
