It used to be that if you needed anything at Disneyland, you could go to City Hall and get help without having to wait in line. While that is no longer the case during the busy seasons, City Hall is still the place to go for almost anything you need when it comes to help.
The most common use for going to City Hall is to get one of those free recognition buttons. A brilliant idea by the Disney Company, recognition buttons exist for any occasion. Happy Birthday buttons get the person’s name written on them, and for the rest of the trip, that person gets recognized by cast members and guests alike as totally random people say, “Happy Birthday.”
Other occasions are:
Buttons to show that you have eaten a character breakfast come at the breakfast itself. Just remember that wearing it throughout the day may get you comments. “How was your breakfast?” seems like a weird question when you ate at 8:30 a.m., and the person is asking two hours later.
Whatever you are celebrating, the accommodating cast member can help you out. If all you need to get are buttons, check at the podium to the right of the City Hall entrance. Note that buttons should not be confused with pins.
The entrance to City Hall may have a line, but it generally goes pretty quickly. They can answer almost every question, and you can get your Disney Visa perks here.

- Happily Ever After – which can be anything including an anniversary
- Just Married
- Family Reunion
- Honorary Citizen – apparently, some men do not feel that it is appropriate to wear the “Happily Ever After” button. This one is used as a substitute. It probably has other uses as well.
