Salem's Travel Bureau better than the Internet
Driving through West Salem, I noticed the Travel Bureau and decided to stop in. I wasn’t expecting much, maybe some information and a price quote that was more than what I was willing to pay at the time. Instead, what I got was amazing.
In arranging for my flight to Malta as a student, Caryn got me a letter of introduction from the Maltese Embassy in Washington, D.C. and an ISIC student I.D., which not only comes with international student discounts but also with health and travel insurance while I am abroad for the next year. Those two items were a bonus.
That is great customer service. Had I done the arrangements on my own, I would have ended up with neither the letter of introduction nor the ISIC identification card, both of which have already proven their values. The insurance that came with the ISIC card was something that I needed to stay in Malta. I didn’t find out that I needed it until I got to Malta. Without it, I wouldn’t have gotten my residence card.
However, here’s the kicker. All of these things came with an airline ticket price that was $400 less than I could find when I did my searches online. I saved myself the time and stress of having to guess when the best day would be to purchase tickets, and I got a cheaper price on my airline ticket than I had seen during some of my preliminary research.
If you are planning a trip, you might want to consider saving yourself all of the hassle of the Internet and its crazy rules and regulations. Find yourself a travel agent, and if you are in the Salem area, I encourage you to talk to the Travel Bureau before you book anything online.
