Misheard Lyrics: KISS’ Rock and Roll All Night
I like to sing in my car and it doesn’t much matter who is in it. If the radio is on, I am probably singing.
In college, road trips were common, and since I was the driver on most of them, I was in charge of the radio. I am not a big KISS fan, but when this song comes on, you really got to sing it out loud, especially when you are in college.
The conversation went something like this:
My friend: Wait. What did you just sing?
Me: This song.
My friend: (frown) I know that. What do you think the lyrics are?
Me: You know what the lyrics are.
My friend: Yes, I do, but I want to hear what you think they are.
Me: They are clearly – “I WANNA ROCK ‘N’ ROLL ALL NIGHT AND PART OF EVERY DAY!”
My friend: (snickering) Dude, those aren’t the lyrics.
Me: Yes, they are.
My friend: No, they aren’t.
Me: What are they then?
My friend: “I want to rock and roll all night and party every day.”
Me: What? That doesn’t make any sense. I mean, when would you sleep?
I like my lyrics better. Fortunately, there was no Internet at the time of this argument to check out what the real lyrics are, so we were able to have this ridiculous conversation for an entire car ride and possibly longer. Besides, KISS can’t even spell “rock ‘n’ roll” correctly.
