Don't let the Fate of the Furious be your own
I saw this movie in Russian. Something may have been lost in translation.
I paid money for this? People will pay money for this? Seriously, the only thing that is fast and furious about this movie is how it will make you feel. They pulled a fast one that should make you furious. There aren’t enough cars and far too many pointless deaths.
#NoLivesMatter as the Fast and Furious crew kills with extreme prejudice everyone that stands in the way of their goals to save the world. It isn’t the way heroes are supposed to act, and in no previous version of this world have I noticed so many pointless deaths. Though to be fair, it looked like most of the prisoners survived the riot. Was that a spoiler?
The Fast and the Furious franchise has always been about car racing and family. That is what made the past movies so strong, in spite of their inherent unbelievability. In this one, the message is only our family matters. And there is something wonky about the timeline, the age of the child and the honeymoon. Dom really is a fast one, but I didn’t realize how fast.
I understand that no one goes to these films expecting them to be believable, but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t adhere to the internal rules built up in the world they have created on screen. Suspend all disbelief and just go with the flow, and this movie still begs for you deny internal logic. (Which may be a commentary on the current politics of the U.S.)
Kudos to Jason Statham who has the best role, and Dwayne Johnson who oozes star power and charisma even with a Russian dubbed voice. Thumbs down to the writers who decided this drivel was the best they could come up with to attempt top the Fast and the Furious 7. Save your money for something worthwhile this cinema season. Don’t let the Fate of the Furious be your own.
