Sunday's Proposed Schedule, First Draft
The signature event for Sunday at the D23 Expo is clearly the 2 concerts that Alan Menken is performing. I should be more excited about this, but I’m not. It’s not that these performances won’t be amazing because they will. I would rather be spending my time delving into the history of Walt Disney and other things than listening to Menken perform. It seems weird to me, but there it is. That in no way means that I would be unhappy to attend one of the 2 concerts, just that they are not a huge priority.
Currently, the first panel available, “Writing with Walt: Researching in the Magic Kingdom of Good Eating,” is probably one I should go to considering my own interest and work on Disneyland as a creativity metaphor. (Book coming soon, I hope.) It’s always interesting to see how other people use structure in their writings. Of course, there is a TBA panel at this time that might be more interesting…
“Walt Disney Signature Collection Presents: The 75th anniversary of Bambi” conflicts with “Inspiring women of Imagineering,” but I am tempted to go to the latter even with the talent that will be at the Bambi panel and the fact that it runs into “Magic in the details: How Disney historical collections continue to inspire.” That panel runs into the “Voices of Disney Parks” panel, which runs into “Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough – Celebrating 60 Years of Walt Disney’s Most Charming Tableaux.” And Sleeping Beauty conflicts with “Maps of Disney Parks.” The “Legends of Walt Disney Imagineering” panel might be the best panel of the day, but it faces off against “90 years of Oswald the Rabbit” and the 2nd of Menken’s concerts. Life’s full of tough choices, innit?
So for now, here’s the dream schedule:
