For good coffee, try friendly Caffe Berry in Sliema
The search for good coffee on the Malta island is over (good coffee can be had on Gozo near the Azure Window). Caffe Berry, the Coffee Company in Sliema on San Duminku is just the place to have great coffee and enjoy a laid back, customer friendly atmosphere.
If you are like me, you don’t go to a coffee shop for the décor; you go for the coffee first. Freshly ground beans are the start to a nice pull of espresso that s both flavorful and soothing. The Special Caffe Berry Espresso is a couple of shots served in a coffee glass smeared with high quality chocolate. The drink is topped with just enough foam and has hazel nuts sprinkled on top. The nuts add a whole new element to the texture and enjoyment of the coffee itself. The treats are conscientiously made with the list of ingredients spelled out in front of them.
The café itself is little more than two counters, one of them for service, with a total of six seats – three inside and three outside under an awning. However, the shop itself is a little like Doctor Who’s TARDIS, in that it seems bigger in the inside. Caffe Berry, the Coffee Company is a beautiful niche shop with an accommodating staff and a good feel to it, and at the time I was there, I enjoyed a selection of jazz. Even if you can’t get a seat, Caffe Barry is a great place to meet people and enjoy the real goodness that coffee can be.
