Spoiler free review: Temper expectations for Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Manage your expectations for ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi.’ I saw far too many headlines about this being the BEST Star Wars movie to date, and I was a little disappointed. There are great action scenes, comedy (thanks, Porgs), subterfuge, and twists – but ‘The Force Awakens’ was better.
Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill reprise their iconic roles. Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac grow their roles into iconic. John Boyega draws the short stick as his character is left to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune. Benicio Del Toro plays a character that could probably do well in his own spin-off.
‘The Last Jedi’ is good; it’s just not as good as its direct predecessor. It also isn’t as good as ‘Coco’ or ‘Logan.’ Still, its STAR WARS! And it feels great listening to John Williams while laser fire and light sabers flash! In an effort to leave this review spoiler free, I am going to end it here. There are a lot of other things to say, so follow me on Twitter, and maybe, we’ll revisit ‘The Last Jedi’ after the new year. (Shoot me a message if you are going to wait for it either through Twitter or through the contact form.) The only real question is "How many toys will it sell?"
