Vegetarianism at Disneyland Resorts Top Tier Restaurants
There’s a story about a new Disney animator being given an assignment. He went back to his desk worked out an idea and took it in to Walt Disney. After Walt looked at it, the animator asked what he thought. Walt said, “It’s hard to choose from just one idea.” Vegetarians at Disneyland Resort are faced with that a lot, especially surprisingly at the Disney Parks top tier restaurants. Just remember, you can ask at any restaurant to find different options for vegetarians (or any food allergies).
Carthay Circle in Disney California Adventure
There was nothing vegetarian on the World of Color menu. The Carthay Cirle has been my favorite restaurant since it opened, but this last trip (2016), it just didn’t measure up. The sad thing is I was on my honeymoon, and this was my wife’s first visit to Disneyland ever. (She’s from Russia.) When we asked about vegetarian options, we were given a list that I probably should have asked to have repeated. At any rate, I chose the Tomato Bisque and a pasta with a tomato sauce. Too much tomato, and the Jolly Holiday Bakery’s soup is much better. My wife ordered the vegetable tower, which was not as towering as the name suggested, but it was tasty.
Wine Country Trattoria at Disney California Adventure
Get reservations. The World of Color Menu offered Minestrone and Broccolini Aglio Olio. The soup was great, and the BAO was just the right amount of spicy and garlicky. Best of all, you get to sample all of the desserts, so there is no reason to decide which one you want. It also offers better seating for the World of Color – by seating, I mean standing room.
The Blue Bayou at Disneyland
This is the glory days of Disneyland. If you can’t get into Club 33 (and I can’t), this is the restaurant to eat in. For vegetarians, there was only one option: a Portobello and rice dish. As someone who doesn’t like rice or mushrooms, I ordered it anyway. I was glad I did. The Portobello had a nice consistency. The rice was well seasoned. Even if it was the only thing available on the menu, it was well worth eating.
