VDrova offers Italian food and atmosphere in downtown Khabarovsk
VDrova is a joy for the senses. In downtown Khabarovsk, the restaurant features wonderfully detailed décor and costumed waitstaff who take their jobs as seriously as comedy can be taken. However, it is the food that provides the greatest sensation with the non-alcoholic beverages being creative and impressive.
The Pear and 5 Cheese pizza was well done with a continental crust that was soft and crispy. The sweetness of the pears provided a contrast to the tanginess of the cheese. Adding a little of the hot pepper oil completed the taste sensation of a meal that I wouldn’t expect to find in Far East Russia.
The Raspberry-Almond Lemonade was fragrant, but our favorite was the banana-mint. Who knew the two flavors would go well together? Both sparkling drinks were refreshing, but the banana-mint mix was just a skosh better.
Perhaps the best part of the experience is that you are in control of the service you get. All you have to do is shout “Mama Mia!” and a server comes to your table. Of course, if you’re shy, this could be a problem. However, the waitstaff does its best to help you loosen up with a quick guided tour of the restaurant, and the eclectic décor helps to liven things up.
The servers are dressed in various costumes. With jesters, dolls or marionettes, and painted on moustaches galore, the emphasis is on fun. There are few restaurants in Far East Russia that can hold a candle to VDrova, but maybe more of them should try. Try VDrova and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere with great food.
