Take '22 Jump Street' to comedy central
The jokes are fast and furious as Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum team up for 22 Jump Street. This time the duo are going to college, and while much of the humor involves sexual innuendo, it is the self-referential treatment that makes the movie truly hilarious. Funny metaphors abound as the comic duo gets the relationship treatment.
Jonah Hill plays the same comic character that he always plays, but for someone who hasn’t seen 21 Jump Street the movie, Channing Tatum is a revelation as the dumb, funny guy. Ice Cube and Queen Latifah also get self-referential. In all, 22 Jump Street is just a good time. There are so many jokes packed into this movie experience, that there is a good chance that you will miss enough of them to make a second viewing worthwhile. (If you do not know who Benny Hill is, it might be worth finding out before you go to see 22 Jump Street again.) If the film were just about the jokes, it would be good, but it also has heart and action, both of which serve to enhance the comedy rather than break from it. For the best spring break chicken fight of all time, you have got to see 22 Jump Street. My cheeks still hurt from all of the laughing. |
