'Pawn: A Chronicle of the Sybil's War' makes for great summer reading
Timothy Zahn’s “Pawn: A Chronicle of the Sybil’s War” was a pleasant surprise. The tale about people abducted from Earth and forced to live on a spaceship is both detail rich and interesting. Zahn does a great job at balancing the character traits of his individuals with the explanation required to bring travel aboard a spaceship to life. From the abduction to the end, the story goes full tilt as Nicole tries to solve the mystery of where she is and why she has been brought there.
I don’t want to give any spoilers, but… No, I seriously don’t want to give any spoilers. This book makes a great point about sharing information and making sure everyone on the team knows what’s going on and why the rules exist. “Pawn: A Chronicle of the Sybil’s War” is a great read for the summer. I met Zahn at Lilac City Comicon 2018 where he was touted as a “Star Wars” author, so I expected this book to take place in the “Star Wars” universe. Having a setting I was unfamiliar with made this book even better. I’m glad I got to read something that Zahn created. I look forward to the upcoming sequel, which there is plenty of room to develop.
