Joel Brown's 'In Retrospect' release party
On May 10, 2011, Spy Hop Records will release Joel Brown’s In Retrospect CD. The release party will be at Dumke Recital Hall on the fourth floor of David Gardner Hall at the University of Utah, 1375 President’s Circle in Salt Lake City. Doors open at 7:30pm. The program starts at 8:00pm. Admission is free; CDs will be available for $10.
Spy Hop Records is a part of Spy Hop Productions whose mission, according to their web site, is “to empower youth to express their voice and with it create positive change in their lives, their community, and the world.”
Joel’s CD was put together by eight to ten teens who work with Spy Hop Records. The teens served as sound engineers, social networkers, marketers, cover designers and photographers.
“They did everything that an independent label does,” said Jeremy Chatelain, musical arts instructor for Spy Hop Records. Production on the CD began in August 2010 with tracking by Joel and his musicians.
Other CDs planned for release are a compilation of different artists on June 17, 2011 and a CD by The Orchard on July 29, 2011. Auditions for youths to participate in the music-making process start in September, and the program starts in October with the signing of a new act.
The music is available on Amazon.
