Alliance for Children gives kids a nutritious help up
The Alliance for Children in Salt Lake City currently reimburses 250 people, who provide in-home childcare, for meals that follow the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) guidelines. These guidelines ensure that children are receiving healthy meals and proper nutrition.
“We are here to support and help and make sure that children are receiving good, nutritious meals,” says Paula Barton, executive director for Alliance for Children.
The program is looking for new applicants. In order for providers to qualify, they must be certified through the Department of Health or be providing care for close relatives like nieces, nephews, grandchildren or siblings.
Those who are accepted into the program must successfully complete a background check for anyone over the age of 18 who is living in the house.
Someone from the Alliance for Children will visit those in the program three times a year making sure that the provider is complying with the rules of the program and ensuring the children’s health and safety needs are met.
Not only does the Alliance for Children provide services to ensure children’s health and safety, it also brings federal money into the state for families to spend locally helping Utah’s economy.
Anyone wishing to see if they qualify for the program can call (800)773-4731 or visit the web site for more information.
