Who is behind the crop circles?
“Now is the time for us to rise up and let the humans know of our presence!” The creatures floated in the water. Their tentacles swayed to and fro with the current. The ruler addressed them. “We have teased them long enough with incomprehensible signs and symbols. They have not been smart enough to decipher our language. We must leave them with a clear and indisputable sign of our existence and intelligence!”
The speech didn’t seem to have any effect on the creatures surrounding their ruler in the water. In fact, aside from maybe a bit of a stronger glow than the rest, the king didn’t seem much different than those he was addressing.
“Let us arise from the depths once more. Let us make our presence in this world known. Let us not be maligned with ‘peanut-butter-and-jelly-fish” jokes ever again!” The gelatinous mob became agitated. They drew in their tentacles. They squeezed together. “We will no longer be a silent drifting race; we will dominate the seas, the air and the land!” The waters began to churn. “Remember Barbury Castle! Let us reveal ourselves!”
The hordes of jellyfish leaped out of the boiling sea and spiraled into the air. “Let us fly over the cliffs of Dover! Let us pass Wiltshire! Oxfordshire will be the one to know us!”
The jellyfish landed in the field below, unwrapped their tentacles and started churning the crops, carefully folding them in patterns too intricate for human ingenuity. When they were through they knew that the humans would have to start paying attention to the intelligence of the seas.
The next day, they waited for contact. It turned into the next day and into the next week. Finally they received the news. The humans had found the jellyfish crop circle and attributed it to aliens or a hoax again.
