The Top 5 Disney Cars
This list only includes one character from the Movie Cars, mostly because I didn’t like the movie but recognize its value to Disney, Pixar and its merchandising sections. It is also only cars, so the Pizza Planet truck and Tow Mater were ruled out, as were the Tron Light Cycles.
5. The Gnome-mobile – This 1930 Rolls Royce Phantom II has an entire movie named after it, which was based on a book by Upton Sinclair. The movie was released in 1967 and was Ed Wynn’s last cinema performance.
4. RC Car – The plucky little car is used to push Buzz Lightyear out a window and then heroically uses up his batter to get Buzz and Woody back to the other toys. It has a ride at Disney theme parks and can be seen in all 3 Toy Story movies.
3. The Condormobile – From the underrated Condorman released in 1981, this was an 80’s kid’s dream car. Lasers, rockets and a ramp that could send other cars jumping over it? Yes, please. The Condormobile started out disguised as a gypsy truck. Pretty cool for a super hero car.
2. Lightning McQueen – He… Is… Speed…
1. Herbie the Love Bug – a racing car rode for the Disney Company long before Lightning made his debut. Herbie had a slew of movies and was chosen when Walt had people line up cars on the animation studio lot. Everyone touched the VW Beetle as if it were alive. The Love Bug was born.
