Buellton, Ca great food and decent lodging makes travel easy
Ellen’s Danish Pancake House
Ellen’s Danish Pancake House located in Buellton, California is so good that my niece, 16 and nephew, 12, talked about it two days later while we were still on the road and then they told their mother about it when they got home.
The crepes are the right consistency and really good, but what stands out is what they can do with fruits. The blackberry jam was a nice way to top pancakes, and the triple berry pie tasted like natural berries wrapped in a flavorful crust. The restaurant also offered a coconut-chocolate cream pie.
Not only were my niece and nephew impressed by the food, which rarely happens, but they were also impressed by the friendly service that we received. We went for dinner; fortunately, breakfast is served all day.
The San Marcos Motel
The independently owned San Marcos Motel was recommended by the nearby chain that was full for the evening. The price was the least expensive of hotels and motels in the area, and the room was clean. Check in was really easy, the beds were comfortable, and the shower pressure was nice. The motel is showing signs of age; the room we were in had a flaking bath tub. However, it was nice to find a place to stay that was locally owned.
