Lost and found magic on the Boardwalk at Santa Cruz
Fireball, the ride at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, starts
with a slow spin and then begins to swing back and forth with minimal spin
until it reaches a frenzied pace and the spin picks up again. Just after the
top of the arc, riders reach zero Gs, and loose hanging necklaces slide off
necks while items fall out of pockets, especially small change.
About two swings before the final swing, my camera fell out of my pocket and flew who knows where. When the ride finished, I talked to the attendant at the gate who told me that I would need to check with Guest Services in a couple of hours and fill out a report. I walked down the steps processing what I would need to do to get a new camera because it didn’t seem likely that I would be getting mine back any time soon.
When I reached the bottom of the stairs, the ride operator leaned through the railing and told me to go to Guest Services and fill out a report now. That way they could contact me when they found the camera.
I walked the short distance to Guest Services near the Giant Dipper, went in and asked to fill out a form. The attendant at the counter asked me what kind of camera it was and then pulled my camera from under the desk. She asked me what the last picture was, and I had my camera back in far less time than I thought possible. Not even Disneyland is that fast. Mind blown. Magic.
