Medieval Mdina 2015 takes advantage of the venue
Be sure to check out the slide show below.
On April 18, the streets of Mdina came to life with knights, slaves, artisans and reenactments during the Medieval Mdina Festival 2015. The city itself is walled and makes the perfect setting for this celebration.
On offer in the square in front of the church were battle reenactments where knights and footmen battled in such a way to show the strategy of pike, sword and arrows. Demonstrations also included a doctor talking about how patients mostly dies in the middle ages, local color eating the types of food that would have been available, and a small sheep and goat pen.
Aside from the battle reenactments, guests can take part in a slave auction and watch falconry demonstrations. They can also take photos of themselves in stocks. A blacksmith is on hand, processions wander through the streets, and many of Mdina’s normal attractions, like the Domus Romana and the National Museum of Natural History are having special offers.
Guests at the festival could shoot two types of bows, try on helmets and hold swords and shields, and hold birds of prey.
The festival continues through April 19 and is well worth the visit. Read about Mdina the silent city.
