Olmos endorses Bank Transfer Day and Occupy Wall Street
Edward James Olmos, actor in Battlestar Galactica and Dexter, addresses students, faculty, staff and members of the community at Salt Lake Community College’s Grand Theater on South City Campus on November 9, 2011.His talk titled “We’re all in the Same Gang” covers several topics, and he spoke in English and Spanish.
“God bless the Occupy Wall Street people,” says Olmos. “Is there a leader? No,” but there is something more important. “There’s a human connection,” and they are saying that “we’ve had it up to way past here.”
Olmos says that Bank Transfer Day was a good way to send a message to the banker’s and those in power responsible for the billions of dollars of bailout debt that was accrued because of poor management decisions.
“My children’s children’s children are going to have to pay that debt,” says Olmos. “The entire planet is in trouble because of greed.”
Olmos was the first college graduate in his family and graduated from a community college. He now has 13 PhDs.
“They give them (PhDs) to you when you deserve them,” says Olmos. “Get them any way you can. They’re hard to get.”
Olmos spoke as part of the Tanner Forum on Social Ethics.
