Dance 'til your undead at FanX Zombie Ball
On March 28, 2014, zombies will invade the Utah State Capitol Building at 5 p.m. This isn’t the start of a new Utah Legislature session; it is a warm up for Salt Lake Comic Con’s FanX in April that also supports the Utah Food Bank. Once inside, the zombie king and queen will be crowned, and the undead will dance until 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $20 at the door. Zombie and survivor costumes are expected.
Salt Lake Comic Con is teaming up with the Utah Food Bank once again for the “Food not Brains” campaign. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the event.
“Last year, they reached out to us for their Zombie Walk,” says Utah Food Bank Communications Specialist Heidi Cannella. “They encouraged donations of funds and food and they donated [part] of the proceeds from the T-shirts” sold at the event.
The Zombie Walk resulted in a couple hundred pounds of food. Salt Lake Comic Con Founder Dan Farr rounded up the proceeds from the T-shirts to make it an even $1500.
“It’s great to be able… to reach a demographic that we don’t always reach,” says Cannella.
Put on your best zombified outfit, drop off a donation for the Utah Food Bank, dance until you’re dead and then keep on dancing.
