My first Disney crush: Miss Bianca from the Rescue Aid Society
The Rescuers was released in 1977. I was 5 years old at the time, and I do not recall if I saw it in the theater when it first came out or if I had to wait for the rerelease in 1983. At any rate, I had a crush on Miss Bianca, and she is the first “person” that I remember crushing on. (Not counting Danielle when I was in 3rd grade.)
Miss Bianca was everything I wanted in a companion. She was adventurous, willing to help someone in trouble, nice and could see a diamond in the rough. When she grabbed Bernard and they raced to the bayou to rescue Penny from the evil Medusa, Miss Bianca was the one in charge, helping to keep Bernard’s spirits up and enjoying the ride on Orville the albatross and Evinrude’s makeshift motorboat.
Not only was Miss Bianca kind and charitable, she was also smart. Plus, she had Eva Gabor’s Hungarian accent and was always impeccably dressed. What cemented my love for her was a chance meeting at Disneyland where she gave me a kiss on the cheek. It was truly magical.
Yes, I understand that Miss Bianca is an animated mouse and we come from two different worlds. However, it was always her personality that I found attractive, and isn’t that what’s supposed to be important?

Simba from The Lion King. He started out kinda awkward and lost, had his adventures, and grew into a well-developed individual. I think the less-whimsical romantic story behind him and Nala also made them seem far more human/real than the average Disney romantic pairing. Because of that, I related with them more.
