Aladdin's Enchanted Passage
In the spirit of the original Sleeping Beauty’s Castle walkthrough at Disneyland in Anaheim, the one before the update, Le Passage Enchante d’Aladdin at Disneyland Paris is a walkthrough attraction that showcases the story of Aladdin. In carefully detailed miniature mock-ups behind glass, Aladdin stays one skip ahead of the breadline and one swing ahead of the sword, grabs the magic lamp, gets his wishes, is thwarted by Jafar… (Do you really need a spoiler alert here?) Suffice it to say, the entire story is here to see.
The sculptures are well done, it is worth a walkthrough to check out, but unless you are a huge fan of Aladdin, there isn’t much return value to this attraction. Because it is indoors, you will be faced with the crowds all leaning against the glass to get a better look at the coolness behind. Also this attraction, like Alice’s Curious Labyrinth and Les Mysteres du Nautilus, failed to heed the early lesson that Disneyland Anaheim learned with the Imagineering of the Pirates of the Caribbean – walkthroughs do not handle enough traffic or provide for free flow of guests through an attraction.
There is nothing wrong with the attraction by itself. However, there isn’t anything in the attraction to hold the attention of anyone who is not into miniatures and/or not into Aladdin. If you love the movie, this attraction won’t add anything to the experience, but miniatures are cool. Aladdin’s Enchanted Passage is stationed in Adventureland.
