Trump uses Native American nickname to Denigrate Senator Warren
According to the National Park Service, Pocahontas has left an impression for more than 400 years after her life ended, in spite of the fact that she never wrote anything down and all of the information about her comes from other people. Pocahontas is a nickname that this member of the Powhatan Tribe earned through her playfulness and curiosity.
Trump uses the name to attack Senator Elizabeth Warren because Warren, a woman, claims to have a Native American heritage. Warren has provided no documentation for the claim saying that it was part of her family’s lore, and experts concur that the amount of Native American blood that she has claimed would be difficult to prove and not necessarily provide for tribal citizenship. They also say, according to the Washington Post, that people didn’t really document their lineage as far back as Warren is claiming that the ancestry begins. According to independent researchers, Warren didn’t used her Native American heritage to gain an advantage when applying for jobs at Harvard or the University of Pennsylvania, which was the main claim her Senatorial opponent used against her.
