Theron, Rapace and visuals provide fire for 'Prometheus'
Prometheus is a visually striking movie. The prequel to the Alien films, Prometheus provides the suspense of the originals in smaller doses while adding to the overall myth of the Alien universe. As an allegory of man and God, the movie strives to answer the big questions of life without the heavy handed notions of some science fiction films.
The beginning gets off to a bit of a bumpy start as viewers are faced with Dr. Evil clone and a Rubik’s Cube projecting device. Even the exploration of the new planet comes with a question: Seriously, aren’t there any safety protocols in the future? Those flaws are relatively minor given the performances of Charlize Theron, who does much of the heavy lifting at the beginning of film, and Noomi Rapace, who finishes big in the climax and the end of the movie. If you ever wondered about the origin of the aliens and who made them, Prometheus is ready to supply you with the answers. Just be prepared for some gut busting that proves that those in the future are much stronger than those who live today, especially when they are confronted by aliens. |
