Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom -- Everything Old is new again
“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” takes everything that you love about the Jurassic Park films and gets them right. To be sure, there is nothing new here, but JWFK is good enough to make you forget they took all their stuff from previous films. As long as you don’t expect the original and you love dinosaurs, JWFK should be good popcorn fun.
Spoiler alert: Don’t scroll past the trailer unless you don’t care about spoilers.

I did say spoilers, right?
Stop me if any of this sounds familiar: Rich old guy recruits members of last film to rescue dinosaurs. Second in command is bad guy. The military/hunter guy is the bad guy. There’s a kid in danger. T-Rex gets two glory moments. Raptor saves the day. The click of dino claws on the floor. Sick dino, sleeping T-Rex - there’s the ooooing and the ahhing and then the screaming. If you’ve seen any of the Jurassic films, you’ve seen this one.
However, here the action is more intense. The time they spend on the island is great, even with the clichés and déjà vu. Better, the return to civilization has nothing of the Lost World feel to it. It’s not tacked on or tacky, and everyone makes the right decision! Holy cow! (No cows were harmed in the making of this film; I’m not sure the same could be said of goats. Wasn’t that seen in the first film? Maybe someone could splice together all the scenes from previous films that are in this one… There are even some gymnastics!)
Look, if you’re going to “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” to see something new, seriously, what are you thinking? Try an Indie film or something less mainstream. If you’re going to have fun, JWFK will get you there. Enjoy the scares, enjoy the running and enjoy the dinos. RAHR!
