RubySnap takes on breast cancer
When Tami Cromar, director of appetites at RubySnap, was 35 years old, a friend succumbed to breast cancer. The friend had isolated herself, and “her family fell apart,” says Cromar.
RubySnap is making a push to be the largest donor and team in the May 12, 2012 Susan G. Komen Salt Lake City Race for the Cure. Looking to raise $10,000 before the race starts, RubySnap’s donation collection effort is rolling out now for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“Cancer is more than just breasts,” says Cromar, “it’s lives [and] families.”
For just one dollar, guests at RubySnap can get their name on the big pink post-it wall and receive recognition with their picture on the “Save a Pair of Suzies” team Facebook page.
One hundred percent of the profit on a box of four Suzies (about $4) will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
RubySnap is also taking orders for T-shirts and taking preregistrations for the Race for the Cure.
“I’m in a place right now that I can make a difference,” says Cromar.
Fundraising efforts will continue through May 2012. Cookies are available at the store or online.
