Star Wars Land, in a galaxy far far away, or at least across the street
There has been a lot of speculation about where Star Wars Land will be placed. The coolest placement would be somewhere across the street or farther away, especially if there is only one way to get there. You have to believe that if Star Wars Land gets built, Star Tours – currently in Tomorrowland, in spite of it being set a long time ago – would have to be moved unless it became the way to get to Star Wars Land. Imagine embarking on a tour to Endor or Tatooine or Coruscant or any other place in the Star Wars universe and then ending up there.
This type of possibility solves one of the basic problems with the current Star Tours. The window show that you have arrived someplace different than when you left, but you get off the attraction and you end up in a gift shop that really isn’t related to where you were supposed to be. At least the original version of Star Tours had the group returning to the place they started, just narrowly missing the truckload of fuel with… Was that George Lucas in the background?
We already know from Indiana Jones adventure that this type of ride is possible, if on a smaller scale. There would have to be a tour that offered extra stabilizers for people with motion sickness, but it seems like the opportunity for this ride would be too good to pass up. The tour could still go through all of its variations and the car would just have to end up in whatever area of Star Wars Land that the video shows. The last scene is Hoth, the StarSpeeder 4000 ends up at a place that lets off in Hoth.
Yes, the Indiana Jones Adventure often has trouble matching up the ending with the beginning (You chose riches! Welcome back. If you drank too much from the fountain of youth…), and this problem could plague the Star Tours to Star Wars Land. However, if it could be worked out, this ride could be pure magic.
