Alice in Wonderland attraction gets upgraded, 2015
Alice in Wonderland is one of the attraction to receive an upgrade in time for Disneyland’s 60th anniversary. Like many of the other attractions’ upgrades, the video elements feature prominently. From the moment that the guests fall down the rabbit hole and are confronted with the swirling of projected objects to the final scene where animated tea pots spout animated steam, scenes throughout the ride have been enhanced with various new projections.
The White Rabbit gets a video role at the beginning as well and has several new ending sayings as guests are blown out of the Unbirthday Party, including “There goes the cake.” The croquet ball/hedgehog is now an animated video rather than a static picture that was projected and turned, and some of the flowers in the garden have also become video.
In theory, these video and projection enhancements should be easier to change or add to when the Disney Company decides it wants to surprise guests. Old videos could be used along with new videos to make sure that each experience is a surprise – kind of like Star Tours with its different parts. (It is possible that the hedgehog already has several different actions other than the one I saw.)
Alice herself is featured in a new figure, which was nice to see.
