Merill Rural Tours brings guests closer to real Malta
Merill Rural Tours is just the experience that people who are looking for authentic Malta need. Teaming with local farmers who are following sustainable farming practices, Merill offers a unique experience that includes a tour of the farms that are bringing farming back into vogue in Malta.
After the tour and some history about the farm and its origins, guests are treated to tastes of Malta, including olive oil, Maltese cheese and bean dip, galletti, wine, honey and other Maltese grown or created delicacies. The staff is knowledgeable in many areas of Maltese history, farming practices and the fauna and flora of Malta.
According to our tour leader, olive oil is good for a couple of years though the quality degrades over time. The color of the oil has no bearing on its quality, and sun, water available and variety of olive can have an effect on the development and pace of ripening for the olives. About eight kilograms of olives will make one liter of olive oil.
Charlie’s farm features a variety of trees and herbs. He also has bees that produce honey and uses upcycled materials, like an old fishing net as a guide rail, to make his farm better.
Merill Rural Tours is providing and amazing experience for those who come to Malta. Take advantage of a true Maltese experience with friendly guides to lead the way.
