Reading his stories and watching old episodes of the Twilight Zone reminded me how much creativity Serling showed through his storytelling. It all started with a screenplay about Emmett Till that was butchered by the networks and the censors. He turned to science fiction and the Twilight Zone as a way to discuss sensitive and controversial subjects without the censors having a say in the matter.
Rod Serling and Creativity as a book is an appealing subject to me, but it’s competing with the 50th anniversary of Disneyland’s The Haunted Mansion. Using the history and structure of the Haunted Mansion to create a book much like I did with “Disneyland Is Creativity: 25 Tips for Becoming More Creative," this book would tie in nicely with something I’ve already written and allow me to use the two books to sell each other more effectively. Plus, I love the Haunted Mansion.
So, which do you think I should do? I’ve put up a poll on Facebook that has another two days left. Go there to vote. Thanks!
