During Michael Eisner’s time with the Disney Company in 1994, Disney looked into building a history theme park called Disney’s America. The venture was unsuccessful because those that lived in the area opposed it. In his book “Work in Progress,” Eisner says that “they had the financial resources to do battle, the expertise and the political connections.”
In a day and age where people cannot prohibit the building of a Wal-Mart in their area, what does this say about our country? A country that is supposed to have liberty and justice for all? |

In short, if you do not have money, you will not receive the same consideration as those who do. In journalism, a publication may be sued for something they published even if it is true. The lawsuit may have no merit, but the publishing company has to expend so many resources to counter it that it causes the news outlet to think twice the next time a story comes along with similar content. It also has a “cooling” effect on other news outlets.
The majority needs to take back the power it once had. That majority is not the rich who own the resources or the companies who are now treated like people. The majority is made up of people who have lost their homes, who work every day for pay that barely covers their living expenses and who would be devastated by one medical mishap.
Move to Amend is working to get the power back to the people.
