It looked like a very good and reasonable program. There was a 21 week schedule with different workouts for 3 days a week, each week.
Hmmmm, I can do that, right? Then the Arizona summer heat hit the beautiful “Valley of the Sun”, as the Phoenix area is often called. Training came to a screeching halt. There are stairs in my house and where I work so I did make sure to go up and down those at least 5 times a day.
Since the Tinkerbell Half Marathon was fun and I did finish the race without having to be transported, I decided to participate in the 2014 half marathon.
This time the training will be more controlled and consistent. I am going to the gym 4 days a week and train for about one hour each time.
The Youfit gym has Youfit coaches. It is their equivalent to personal trainers. I purchased a package of twelve sessions and just finished my third session with a Youfit coach (hopefully the Youfit coach will help keep me focused and on track).
I go to the gym after work because it is on the way home which makes it convenient. The colors of the Youfit Gym are lime green (Tinkerbell’s favorite color) and purple! Perhaps that is part of what attracted me to that particular gym.
